Belgium is known for its chocolate and its French fries. Belgium is of course much more than this. Our enterprises are innovating - contributing to creative solutions to the challenges of today in many fields, such as energy, chemistry, mechanical equipment or the food industry. Our relationship with Egypt illustrates this variety and excellence perfectly.
For over 10 years, EBBA has been contributing to the strength and vitality of the Belgo-Egyptian relationship. With more than 100 members, active in a variety of sectors, EBBA has been able to build for itself a reputation as a respected and influential organization in Cairo. Each and every single EBBA member contributes to this success. I am particularly grateful to Ebba’s President and Board Members for their continuous engagement and proactivity in support of bilateral trade and more broadly our bilateral relations.
Egypt has gone through very challenging years. Its economy faced a critical moment in 2016. I wish this beautiful country will find in 2017 the path to the development of its full potential to the benefit of all Egyptians. Belgium – and EBBA – have a role to play to support this. EBBA’s broad scope of activities, such as seminars or annual trade missions to Belgium, will surely contribute to this objective.
I therefore wish that 2017 will see Belgium and EBBA continue their strong partnership and that this continuously strengthened cooperation will allow us to contribute to the prosperity of both Belgium and Egypt.
